Common questions

What is Pro Labor?+

Pro Labor connects long-distance household goods drivers with vetted local laborers who help load and unload shipments. Drivers post loads for free; laborers subscribe to see and apply to loads.

How much does it cost drivers?+

Drivers post loads for free. If a driver pays a laborer through the platform, Pro Labor adds a $5 flat fee plus pass-through card processing fees (about 2.9% + $0.30). Drivers can also pay off-platform at no cost.

How much does the laborer subscription cost?+

Right now, Light is free for 3 months with our launch offer, then $99.99/yr billed annually. Premium is $19.99/mo with a 7-day free trial. Monthly Light is also available at $9.99/month with a 7-day free trial; the 3-month launch offer applies only to annual Light. Plans renew automatically until canceled. Premium members see new loads 24 hours before Light.

How does the background check work?+

Optional background checks run only through Checkr after your disclosure and consent. You pay Checkr directly (approximately $30) and enter screening details there. Checkr clearance automatically adds a verified badge and unlocks loads requiring a passed check. No screening report is stored by Pro Labor. Verification expires after 12 months; reminders are sent 30 and 7 days before expiry. Clearance does not guarantee military-base access.

What are the arrival and application deadlines?+

Drivers set a 2-hour pickup arrival window. Separately, a driver has 8 hours to accept or reject an application. Applications to a driver you have marked as preferred stay open until that driver decides.

When does the laborer see the full pickup address and driver phone?+

For open loads, laborers only see the city, state, ZIP, and the driver's first name + last initial. The full pickup address and verified driver phone unlock only after the driver accepts the laborer.

How do payments and tips work?+

After the driver marks the job complete, they can pay the laborer through the app (Stripe Connect) with an optional tip, or handle it off-platform. In-app payouts require the laborer to finish Stripe payout setup.

How are reviews handled?+

Both drivers and laborers can leave reviews limited to 150 characters. Reviews are screened by AI for hate speech or racism. If a profile receives 3 or more reviews of 2 stars or lower, it is automatically flagged for permanent removal.

How do I cancel my subscription?+

Cancel any time from Account Settings. Cancel before your free period ends to avoid the first charge. Otherwise, cancellation stops future renewals and access continues through the current billing period.

Do I get reminders for a scheduled job?+

Yes. Drivers can trigger a 12–24 hour confirmation, and accepted laborers can save the job to their iPhone or Android calendar directly from the dashboard — the event includes built-in 24-hour and 2-hour reminders.
